Rebranding Fictonal Hockey Teams

Originally a submission for a unique design contest, this set of rebranding exercises—all themed around fictional hockey teams—started as just 3 samples. Which turned into 6. Which then turned into 10. Sometimes a project is just FUN, and I’m happy to say that I enjoyed every minute of creating these out-of-the-box reimaginings of hockey teams you may have seen in movies, TV shows, video games, and even comics. Game on!

The Gotham Blades - Batman, DC Comics
The Blades were first featured in 2009's DC Super Friends #16 playing for the Livingstone Cup, DC's in-universe equivalent of the Stanley Cup.

The Keystone City Combines - The Flash, DC
Comics. One of the Combines biggest fans is Linda Park, the girlfriend and later wife of Wally West, the third Flash.

Los Santos Dust Devils - GTA V, Video Game
The Dust Devils are featured frequently on hats, t-shirts, and jerseys worn by the NPC characters in Grand Theft Auto 5. This concept uses a redesigned version of their existing cyclone logo.

Kwik-E-Mart Gougers - The Simpsons, TV.
The Gougers are the sworn rivals of Bart Simpson's Mighty Pigs, and are coached by the Kwik-E-Mart shopkeeper Apu.

The Washington Daggers - The Division 2, Video Game. The Daggers promotional material can be seen in District Union Arena, where the fictional team plays in a truncated version of Washington D.C.

The Metropolis Mammoths - DC Comics.
The Mammoths are only featured a handful of times in the DC universe comics. A logo is never shown, only team colors, so I was able to completely reimagine the overall look.

The Liberty City Rampage - GTA4, Video Game.
The character Yusuf Amir, a powerful nightclub owner, has a few pieces of Rampage memorabilia in his penthouse suite, and several NPCs can be seen wearing Rampage branded jackets around the city.

The St. John's Shamrocks - Goon, Film
Though the team from the movie is fictional, the director was shocked to discover that there was a REAL St. John's Shamrocks in Newfoundland, Canada in 1976-1977.

Royal Woods Jellyfish - The Loud House, TV Show
The Jellyfish make their first appearance in the show during their game against the "New Jersey Gaba-Ghouls."

Thunder Bay Bombers - Youngblood, Film
This film had a young and power-packed cast, including Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, and Keanu Reeves.
